Workin MAD hours
Porkfry
I’ve not updated in a bit due to the fact that I’ve been working MAD hours at “teh workz0rz”. The game I was working on just shipped and now I’m getting ready to move on to help out on another team before the next title I’ll be working on starts ramping up.
In the times when I’m not working I’ve been playing Enchanted Arms on der 360. I will say, if I were to just go off of reviews I wouldn’t have even touched this game. Although part of me has been waiting for a good RPG to come out for a while on a system that I actually own. Some friends of mine are playing it, I’m guessing you’ve read what they have to say about it. So I picked it up and I’m going to tell you guys the same thing that I’ve told everyone who was thinking about getting this game.
The game is really good. I think I’m about 30 hours into it. ok so some things for you to know.
When you get the game there are a couple points I want you to know about.
1. Makoto.
Makoto is gay. I’m not talking “gay” in the sense like “d00d U R GAY!” I’m talkin he enjoys the company of men kind of gay. Makoto is one of the characters that starts off with your character Atsuma and Toya. Ok now the fact that Makoto is gay isn’t the issue. The part that’s the problem is that he’s so gay its insulting to gay people. I mean I was sitting there playing the game and steph was watching and she said “If I was a gay person I’d really be insulted that they think that’s what I’d be like…should I be a gay male.”
I agree with her. I mean whatever so he has a HUGE crush on Toya and is a snappy dresser. The dialog they give Makoto is almost too much sometimes. I’m not sure if its a japanses thing where they view gay people as being super over the top queens or what but the character is pretty annoying. If you’re a gay person, I’m going to ask that you ignore Makoto and if you’re not gay…ignore him as well.
2. Play until the shit hits the fan
Ok so if you get the game, and you decide to try it out you have to play it until a certian point. Its where when explaining the game to people I describe it as “the shit hitting the fan”. TRUST ME! There is a point when you’ll be playing and there will be no question in your mind that the shit just hit the fan. There is no way you can miss the proverbial shit hitting said fan. Just make sure you play until that point. Up to that point you’ll have a pretty good handle on what’s going on game play wise and you’ll also get a feel for how combat works and also dealing with your Golems.
If you’re looking for a good turnbased RPG for the 360 I think you’ll really enjoy this one.
